New dataset: normalised occupations
Occupations that previously existed only as free text in the graph are now available as a controlled set of concepts.
Our sources describe what people did for a living in many different ways, in several languages and spellings. As long as those descriptions remain plain literals, they cannot be searched or compared reliably. The Occupations dataset gathers the occupation values used across JudaicaLink and turns them into reusable concepts, which is a precondition for faceting by occupation and for linking to external vocabularies.
